Ruaha National Park - Tanzania

Deep in Tanzania's interior lies its second largest national park, Ruaha. Situated in the centre of the country, the Ruaha National Park, is Tanzania's second largest park covering an area of over 13,000 sq kms and the worlds largest elephant sanctuary. Although set in spectacular scenery, with an abundance of wildlife, the park is one of the lesser visited in the country, keeping it an isolated, peaceful and unspoilt wilderness.

Wildlife and Game Viewing in Ruaha National Park

Despite having the greatest resident elephant population in East Africa and being home to a number of rare and fascinating species such as greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope, and wild dog, this 4,000 square mile park is seldom visited due to its remote location.

The Great Ruaha River supports an abundance of wildlife, from crocodiles and hippos to buffalo, eland, warthog, impala, giraffe, zebra and their predators - lions, spotted and striped hyena, leopard and cheetah. During the driest season from June to October, the river is the only permanent source of water in the area and game viewing is at its best.

Accommodation in Ruaha National Park - Tanzania

Accommodation is available in an exclusive Tented Camp, various designated camp sites around the park including at the park headquarters at Masembe and a Lodge
